BATTLING RATU MARA WARRIORS BURY HATCHET

http://www.fijilive.com- 29 April 2004

Elders of two very close clans linked to the late Tui Nayau Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara have ironed out their differences on who are the Tui Nayau's rightful warriors.Groups of people from Yadrana and Kabara who have been guarding the body of the late president exchanged strong words inside Government House premises regarding the issue. The argument went to the extreme with some warriors involved in a punch up.

It is understood the people of Kabara are linked to the Turaga na Tui Nayau via their traditional role in the entire Lau group as warriors of the Tui Lau. History states that one of the past Tui Laus escaped an attempt on his life from his enemies and fled to Kabara. The people of Kabara defeated the enemies of the Tui Lau. The Tui Lau then declared the Kabara people to be his warriors after protecting him from the enemies.

To this date, the people of Kabara have been obligated as the traditional protector, or the 'Bati Leka', who are very close to the Tui Nayau.Yadrana is one of the seven villages in the island of Lakeba. The others are Tubou ( which is the home of the late Ratu Mara), Waitabu, Nasaqalau, Levuka, Waciwaci and Vakano.

These villages have different roles to play in relation to their chiefs. Some are obligated as kitchen hands, traditional craftsmen's and fishermen. Levuka people were assigned the special tasks of constructing the Tui Nayau's tomb, while Yadrana villagers have been carrying out the warrior roles since they are close to each other.Tubou village is closely situated to Yadrana village. Regarding the confrontation at Government House early this week, some elders say it's a matter of dialogue because it's a traditional obligation. They say everything has been sorted out after elders agreed for both parties to work together.

Rayasi was Rasolo's bodyguard from Nayau to Lakeba.

our forefathers escorted the Sau from Nayau to Lakeba and fought like a man possess by a spirit of a true warrior to protect the Vuanirewa Clan at all cost.To this day the Sau is resting in peace on the high hills of Yadrana Village facing his elder brother in Nayau. The late Tui Nayau declared that there should be no road crossing from Tubou to Yadrana because it will temper with the piece of history that lies hidden in Yadrana Hills. We will protect the Vuanirewa Clan as our forefathers did with honor and so we will continue till death. That is our main aim to protect the Vuanirewa Clan at all cost. That journey from Nayau to Lakeba, there were some nobles high chief from Nayau were included in that journey and to day they still reside in Yadrana as a living pieces of history only found in the high hills of Lakeba.

Whoever wrote the piece of shit about Kabara sud be shot....They were there in Kedekede before the Vuanirewa time. They fought against the installation and were defeated, like all the wannabe chiefs. Now they want to curry favours to the Chiefly family....imagine,if you were already leading the island then you were told that the real chief who has been residing on another island as he went on self imposed exile, afraid for his life-what would you do? They prepared for war and war was what they got...The chief promised the Tui Ra if he sees another sunrise he will make the people of Moce "talitali ni nomu magimagi" and the people of Fulaga "tata ni nomu kumete". He saw the sunrise,he was installed, all enemies were defeated.Ratu Sukuna stopped this as he wanted everything to come to 'Valelevu'.I can tell more true events to back this up,proof even....stay blessed
